I had my windshield replaced about 6 months ago with safelite and I did it all through the geico app. They used Pilkington glass which while not oem is great quality.
Pilkington makes the OEM windshields for Alfa but they are readily available and a fraction of the price.
Your (and my) Range Rover windshield is manufactured by Pilkington. Your glass installer can buy the exact same glass direct from Pilkington for less than half the price. The only difference is that Pilkinton will etch off the Range Rover tag in the corner and put their own name on.
Safelite can do replacement. LR shop referred me to them. Pilkington, Optikal, Laminated… This is what LR said was OEM or equivalent. Was $1,200 with heating elements. This cracked recently after 7 years.
On two of my Mercedes, Pilkington is the OE manufacturer.
If you can, avoid using Subaru glass for the replacement. I replaced mine with a pilkington windshield and it isn’t as sensitive to cracks spreading.
I requested Pilkington glass. The view through the glass is quite clear, but there were some noticeable wavy spots compared to OEM, and the new glass also had a gap between the glass and the dashboard that I didn’t notice before so I can see light leaking in through the cutout for the VIN while I’m driving.
I did and had issues with Pilot Assist and Lane Keeping. I had to get the ADAS systems recalibrated.
I have a similar crack, xc40 recharge. It’s got a bit bigger now and no unfortunately not covered by warranty unless one has purchased the windscreen warranty for $2000 on top of extended warranty and some other warranty, tires perhaps or wheels can’t remember but I declined.
my 24 v60 windshield cracked twice in a span of first 11 months and 11k mile of ownership. My previous car, I had one chip in 11 years and 132k miles. I wonder if Volvo windshield is weak or I have bad luck.
