Pilkington, the brand that makes Honda oem glass, was around $570 installed. It’s noticeably thicker than the oem R glass, which may be heavier and affect track time? But the quality is good. No distortion either.
Last glass we replaced with a Pilkington. It’s lasted twice as long (so far) as all the other windshields combined. It’s had a couple of similar ‘minor’ stone chips as what did in the OEMs. It’s still going strong.
Some Outback owners are already on their 3rd or 4th windshield in 2 years. So far the only solution is to demand a non OEM third party window replacement. Owners who can convince the insurance to use Pilkington glass for a replacement are having far less issues.
Pilkington was a good 3rd party option that i ended up with and has held up very very well.
Just had my windshield replaced ~4 days ago at the local Windshield shop..(location in north-central Maryland). Aftermarket glass (Pilkington = ...large UK glass company, owned by Japanese NSG group, which I am familiar with from living in the UK for a number of years.) The windshield was installed for $375 on my 2017 Alltrack S... (so no recalibration/software updates).
I regularly see Pilkington on Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar vehicles
Safelite replaced our windshield with the same Pilkington glass you have. It’s been perfect so far. 6 weeks and zero problems. This Pilkington glass seems to be a bit stronger than the Subaru glass as well. It’s taken a few small rocks with no damage whatsoever.
I have been driving since 1997, many different cars and never ever had to replace a windshield. I purchased my 2017 Santa Fe about 2 years ago, and have replaced my windshield twice already.
After how easy mine cracked , I don't even care if it's OEM so I'm going after market.
I bought the Venue 2023 on Jan 21st. The following Wednesday, driving under a pedestrian bridge (no cars ahead of me) and BOOM, hear a very loud bang and get a big chip plus cracks on the windshield near the very bottom. One crack spread a lot, and this morning I heard the tiniest sound of a rock hitting my windshield and immediately got a 2ft long crack coming off the existing chip (not spreading from another crack). It does sound like I get a lot of wind noise from the windshield itself, plus feels like cold air coming in from the entire front of my car since purchase, which I've never noticed before with my other non-Hyundai vehicles.
