Safelite did my front and back glass on my 2nd gen thru my insurance . I requested OE glass for both. They had a Toyota windshield in stock, but the sliding rear glass was 30-45 days out of stock, so I went aftermarket.

Pros: Toyota windshield in stock
Cons: aftermarket rear glass subpar
Vehicle: Toyota

The original glass in my Alltrack had small pits within months, even ended up with scratch marks from the ice scrapper. Had to get the windshield replaced a couple of years ago and they installed non OEM glass - still good as new.

Pros: still good as new
Cons: small pits, scratch marks
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I have never had replace a windshield in any my 8 other cars in my 21 years of driving, and my last car was even a wrangler. I have had 4 cracks in my 4R, replaced it twice, and is currently cracked again, in 3 years!! I love this car but Toyota effed up on the windshields.

Cons: poor durability, prone to cracking
Vehicle: Toyota 4runner

Toyota windshields are like glass. I’ve had 3 chips/cracks in 2 years. All my other cars haven’t had any in 5 years.

Cons: fragile, prone to chips/cracks
Vehicle: Toyota 4runner
