I personally got my windshield replaced for my 20 Jetta at West Houston VW. They charged me $1400 upfront. However, after filing a claim with Geico, they reimbursed me up to $920. So essentially i paid $480 for OEM Glass installed and calibrated. IMO that is way better than going through safelite
Replaced mine earlier this year on an SEL-P after a rock chip spread. Yes you will need calibration performed on the camera and sensors that work in conjunction with the camera.
Replaced my Glass I had had my windshield replaced when I took delivery of the car. The front glass was scratched. Appears someone wipe down the glass when detailing and scuffed it up. Dealer installed OEM glass and no alignment was required. The bill was $600 but the dealer took care of. Everything works fine.
I've driven VWs for a long time now and I've always thought their glass was more susceptible to chips than other brands I've owned. Stone chips/cracks are pretty easy to get in VW glass.
The windshields are POS. Can’t tell how many stone chips I got.
My 2023 got a cracked windshield within 3 weeks of owning it. The weird thing is that there were no chips or anything. I just started my truck on a cold -40C morning and watched it slowly crack right in front of my eyes.
I’ve had my 2024 tundra for just under a year now. Within that year I have had 3 cracks in my windshield. And one replacement after the first 2 cracks.
The new windshield sucked and had distortions in multiple places and around the edges. It was really inferior, irritating, and we never got used to it.
Brand new 24 hybrid corolla cross. Spilt bottom passenger side. They saud the pen hooks, so it's a chip. Less than 2k kms. I've not heard anything hit the windshield. Just driving along and a big spilt forms in the windshield.
Just got my windshield replaced again for the third time because the previous two had ripples in them, now I got an OEM VW windshield installed and they told me it’s normal to have some slight waves in the windshield. I thought OE or OEM would be better but it’s kinda the same as the other non OE windshields.
