Recently had my windshield replaced due to large crack from rock. 2017 golf R with DAP. I went to the dealer to have it done, but they do have to have a \"window\" company come in as they do not install glass. However, with the OEM front windshield and install I paid $540 otd. I think with the OEM glass and an installer they has done these before, which I did check beforehand, I think that's a pretty good price. No calibration was required as I used OEM glass which contains required guides for DAP install. So far no issues and DAP related features working just as before.

Pros: OEM glass, good price
Cons: no calibration required

My 2018 Outback needed a new windshield already and Subaru says to use only Subaru OEM glass because it's made for the EyeSight cameras. They say it needs re-calibration also.

Pros: OEM glass made for cameras
Cons: needs re-calibration

Had the electric wires on in my German B5.5. It worked rather well, but the sparkle effect at night and in the bright sun was just awful. I liked the idea, but the implementation was not that good.

Pros: worked rather well
Cons: sparkle effect awful

OEM Subaru Windshield

I’m about to replace my 5th windshield on my 2022 Outback. Subaru doesn’t acknowledge anything out of the ordinary. I’ve contacted them multiple times. No impact at all. I park in garage and next day it’s cracked. Totally normal to Subaru.

Cons: cracks appear spontaneously

Just got my windshield replaced again for the third time because the previous two had ripples in them, now I got an OEM VW windshield installed and they told me it’s normal to have some slight waves in the windshield. I thought OE or OEM would be better but it’s kinda the same as the other non OE windshields.

Cons: ripples, slight waves

I’m on like my 5th windshield. I’ve got a split running across half the windshield now that I just have to live with because of these absolutely ridiculously priced windshields that will inevitably crack in less than 30 days after replacing.

Cons: prone to cracking, high price
Vehicle: Subaru Legacy

Full replacement in October and 3 star chips filled this month. The replacement was a nightmare, they ordered OEM, but didn't realize there are different windshields for different trim levels until they'd installed it and couldn't connect the rearview mirror. Can't say its a defect since it was a decent sized gravel each time while driving 75.

Cons: installation nightmare, trim level incompatibility

in the last 13 months of owning an ID.4 I've had 4 cracks, 2 requiring replacement. All cracks have been with OEM VW glass installed at the dealer. I'm at the point where I'm afraid my insurance will drop me if I make any more claims.

Cons: frequent cracks, multiple replacements
Vehicle: Volkswagen
