No VW experience, but did have to replace the windshield on a 2016 Mazda 6 with all of the driver aids/cameras/sensors...same as the Golf R w/ DAP. I went with a local Novus guy who had good reviews. He's an owner/operator and did a great job. My insurance paid for an OEM windshield since the car was less than 18 months old.
I have a 2007 V70 with the 2.5 but went FWD when looking at these cause I figured it would be less of a headache than the AWD models. Had mine for about 16 months, bought at 66k, with 71k on it now, no issues.
I’ve had plenty of visible scratches appear over the 4 years I had my 2019 cx3. And I don’t mean small surface ones only, some were noticeable when touching them with my nail, and I had so many of those that it was actually becoming a problem, towards the end before I recently sold it, because it would cause sun glare and catch me off guard while driving sometimes. Only car I’ve had that had it that bad.
I bought a 23 CX-30 in June and already have two chips in my windshield, both from seemingly small rocks. I do a lot of interstate driving and have driven Ford, Toyota, VW, and Honda previously and none of them seemed to chip as easily. I feel like anything that touches my windshield damages it and it makes me not want to drive. In my old cars, I was often shocked that they didn’t get damaged. I hate seeing the chips and even with repairs, they’re visible.
I had my windshield replaced on my CE ‘21 cx9 and lost my auto sensing rain wiper functions and auto lights functions. I keep trying to get the dealer to fix both but they are unsuccessful in both attempts.
3 days for my 2019 Miata.
Glad I found this. Just purchased my cx-30 premium and same issue. Noticed it within 5 minutes after leaving but convinced myself I just needed to adjust to my new car. I don’t think that’s how it works. You can either see well or you can’t. And I can’t. I’m super bummed out. It’s so disorienting.
I just got my Mazda CX30 and I’m experiencing the same problem! I have to call and get it replaced. Definitely not safe to drive like that, hard to totally focus on the road and gives me a headache.
Earlier today I went under an overpass that was dripping melting snow. A few seconds later, water began streaking down the INSIDE of my windshield. It was entering pretty much dead center of the glass, where the rearview mirror is. It was also entering over on the passenger side (right side, American car). I've looked online and seen that this isn't an uncommon issue with Volvo glass it looks like.
