I have a 2020 CX5 GT and had to replace the windshield. It took two months to get the OEM windshield. It was worth the wait.
I asked the dealer to replace the windshield and they did, I was in a loaner for a week while they had the car, waiting for the windshield and installation. All the cameras and sensors work for.
We didn’t get any cracks in the few years we had a CX-30 but it’s definitely on the softer side as far as hardness goes. There were so many small nicks like any and all debris would sandblast it.
'22 CX-30. Got a chip in my windshield about 3 months after buying it. I do a lot of highway driving and try to avoid driving behind big trucks that kick up a lot of debris but sometimes its unavoidable.
I never scratched a windshield in my life until my 2024 Mazda. In the first month! The squeegee put an 8” scratch right in my line of sight. It drives me crazy.
My 2020 CX-5 cracked windshield twice since last year. It's probably the original Mazda branded windshield that is an issue. I drive normal within city, so not much freeway driving at all
I’ve had plenty of visible scratches appear over the 4 years I had my 2019 cx3. And I don’t mean small surface ones only, some were noticeable when touching them with my nail, and I had so many of those that it was actually becoming a problem, towards the end before I recently sold it, because it would cause sun glare and catch me off guard while driving sometimes. Only car I’ve had that had it that bad.
I bought a 23 CX-30 in June and already have two chips in my windshield, both from seemingly small rocks. I do a lot of interstate driving and have driven Ford, Toyota, VW, and Honda previously and none of them seemed to chip as easily. I feel like anything that touches my windshield damages it and it makes me not want to drive. In my old cars, I was often shocked that they didn’t get damaged. I hate seeing the chips and even with repairs, they’re visible.
I bought my venue last Saturday, a week later a tiny pebble hit it on the highway and later noticed a crack. After not too long and it being parked, the crack got noticably longer. I have never in my life had a windshield break like that, ever, let alone for it to just grow.
I noticed this summer when I go over bumps, the windshield makes a creaking noise. It's been getting worse and worse. A technician found that basically the bottom 2/3rds of the windshield isn't actually adhered down to the car anymore. It's being held down by the top 1/3 of adhesive and the molding. This is clearly a manufacturing defect since it's the OEM windshield with no cracks or chips.
