The aftermarket glass may work well - but I can tell you with great confidence that the OEM glass is much less likely to deviate from what came in your new Subaru.
My 2018 Outback needed a new windshield already and Subaru says to use only Subaru OEM glass because it's made for the EyeSight cameras. They say it needs re-calibration also.
There are ongoing known issues with Forester windshields being extremely fragile. Unfortunately, they’re also very expensive to replace because the Eyesight has to be recalibrated.
Hi. I purchased windshield replacement protection (insurance) for my 2018 x1 through my local BMW dealer. The windshield got a chip and the dealership patched the chip saying the windshield did not need to be replaced. The window then cracked all the way across a few months later and my claim was denied because the windshield was already chipped. Annoying to say the least, that I bought windshield protection but am not allowed to use it to replace my cracked windshield and had to pay full price for a new windshield. Needless to say I won't buy the add on protection services again.
When I had my 2015 forester I replaced 4 windshields. First 3 were oem, they seemed to crack pretty easy.
I have a 2015 Forester and the stock windshield was by far the most easily chipped windshield I've ever had in a vehicle. Seemed to chip much easier than the glass on the 2010 Impreza I had before. I guess what I'm saying is I don't think Subaru glass is that great, at least for my model.
The new windshield last 3 weeks before we had to do it all again. Each crack 16” to 20” with no visible impact.
I have a 2022 OBW. Windshield is absolutely messed up with cracks yet no damage was present. I’m starting to think these windows are decrepit shit pots haha
I have a 17 outback and have replaced windshield three times already. First when I had less than 1k miles.
I had a rock hit the windshield when driving in Los Angeles (right before getting to Disney Land), the next day it was a full blown crack across my entire windshield.
