Water pump GMB or Hepu

Hepu pumps are the best.

Water pump if stock would have a plastic impeller known to fail, but you can find metal impeller options from Graf and Hepu brands and from other aftermarket brands too.

in the last 10+ years have been using HEPU waterpumps.

Me and various others I know have used GMB water pumps before with no issues.

Ive reinstalled another new HEPU(made in germany) pump due to mileage. I don't think anything is wrong with the old one. When I cleaned the o-ring seal contact area on the block it was corroded right where it left an imprint.

If you're worried, replace both the water pump and thermostat. I would use a Mahle, Facet, or Wahler thermostat, and either a Hepu or Graf water pump.

Melling and Aisin are both premium WPs. Airtex is pretty good. GMB is ok.

If the hepu water pump I put on my 3.0T is anything to go by, I don't know that I would recommend them for chains.
