Tires YOKOHAMA or DUNLOP

DUNLOP Tires

But I remember back in the day (PS4s are ancient now) when I swapped from Dunlop SportMaxx RT2s to PS4s and two things stood out - how much mechanical grip they have, and how long they take to warm up.

On cold mornings, they genuinely felt like track slicks. The Dunlops would be "warmed up" and gripping fine by the time I reached the main road - maybe half a mile.

The PS4s, on the other hand, would still feel twitchy and unpredictable halfway to work (~18 miles). It took a good 8-9 miles before they came in. And before they warm up, they are very on/off - loads of mechanical grip, but almost no compound grip, so they can suddenly let go.

Pros: loads of mechanical grip
Cons: take long to warm

YOKOHAMA Tires

If you’re wanting long distance. I have the Yokohama YK-GTX and they’re awesome. If you’re driving short distance but want sporty. The Bridgestone RE980AS+ are freaking awesome, and if you’re like me and base things off of looks too, they’re gorgeous.

Pros: Yokohama awesome for distance

Rating 5.0

My Yokohama Geolandar ATs have never let me down towing trailers off road in mostly very wet/boggy grass.

But are still well behaved on road

Pros: well behaved on road

I'd recommend a place called sand dance. I got Yokohama tires from them and they were the cheapest I could get.

DUNLOP Tires

For a summer tire for a road car I think the Dunlop ZIII are a good choice. Long in the tooth and not competitive as a track tire anymore but great in the rain and great on the road.

Pros: good choice, great in rain, great on road
Cons: not competitive track tire
Vehicle: Mazda

I had the Yokohama with orange oil on my previous Crosstrek, and it slid in every turn no matter how slow I went.

Cons: slid in every turn

DUNLOP Tires

To add to other comments, I had a Dunlop catastrophically fail going 90 mph, it was my rear wheel and it was a wild ride for 10 secs, I came out fine but my bike took quite a beating

Cons: catastrophically fail
