I'm using Yokohama advan s.4s. They're an ultra high performance all season tire and I really enjoy them so far. I've put about 1000 miles on them.
Just replaced the crappy Bridgestones at 37k miles with Cooper CS4 touring, very nice and stable ride, excellent in wet and a good looking tire to boot.
I do have an appt to get a new set of Yokohana Parada SPEC-X tires. I looked into the YK580s, but, we have no Discount Tire outlets in my neck of the woods. I was looking for something similar in the Yokohama line and found the Spec X.
As for tires, I went with the Yokohama YK580s sold only at Discount Tire and have been pleased. Put them on the van and the Passat and very happy with the results. Similar specs to Michelin Primacy tires, but better cost.
what this guy said, ran 175/50 Yoko S-Drives on a 16x8 great tire great strech
I am a fan of cooper tires in general. Typically, they wear well, they are quiet and hold the weather well too!
I gave up on 512's, they stretched awesome but i found that s drives stretch almost as good and they come in 195/45/17. Plus they are a nice v tread and not an all season tire. Grip great compared to 512's.
Cooper RS3-S I picked them up last spring; great grip in dry and wet, low noise, 300 wear rating (decent for a summer only tire) and great price point.
The car handles exceptionally well with them. The West Virginia turn pike is easily handled at 95mph. Downfall- tires need to be rotated sooner then normal and they always run thin way before their due date.
Some big diameter Yokohama tires are unbalanceable. My 3 times rebalanced Geolanders G-52 vibrate depending on road curvature, wind direction, ambient temperature etc. Simply crazy.
