Tires YOKOHAMA or BRIDGESTONE

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I got a great deal on Bridgestone Weatherpeak at Costco. I felt very confident driving them in torrential rains last week.

Pros: confident driving them

Bought these tires for my Mazda 3 after one of my OEM Bridgestone EL440’s got pregnant(sidewall bulge), and I plugged a puncture in the other one. Decided to just replace the tires completely.

So far I’m happy with them.

Pros:

- Severe snow rating so they are legally snow tires in my state(for mountain passes and stuff), and I’m guessing the snow traction is way better. They are still all season tires though.

- Seems to be a softer ride overall even on the stock 18” side.

- XL sidewall strength, vs the stock tires being standard. Should help with those sidewall issues.

- They seem fairly quiet as far as noise.

- $150 rebate in addition to being fairly cheap

Cons:

- These are definitely not for those people who want sporty handling, they don’t really feel like a sport tire, and are more of a touring road tire.

- I’ve heard the treadwear isn’t the best(makes sense with the snow rating)

Pros: softer ride, fairly quiet
Cons: not for sporty handling
Vehicle: Mazda 3

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I had the Bridgestone Revo 3 in my last truck and they did great. And they have a 60k mileage warranty. I got 70k out of them. Before my truck was totaled. Probably had another 15k on them.

Pros: did great, 70k miles
Mileage: 112654 km

Yokohama Avid Ascend GT.

Here are some excerpts from reviews:

(1) [https://www.tiredeets.com/yokohama-avid-ascend-gt-review/](https://www.tiredeets.com/yokohama-avid-ascend-gt-review/)

"How is it over wet and slippery roads? As far as the Avid Ascend GT is good on dry tarmac, it might be even better on wet and slippery roads. Relatively, of course. I find the Yokohama to be outstandingly good in resisting hydroplaning – the car remains controllable even in puddles of water. Also, the advanced tread compound pays dividends on damp surfaces, where the Avid Ascend GT holds itself extremely well. Overall, this is one of the safest and easiest grand-touring tires to drive in the rain. . . .

"Is it comfortable and refined? You bet it is! This is one of the quietest tires I’ve tried recently, improving the refinement of almost any vehicle you put it on. That’s true even at very high speeds, and for cars that don’t have that much noise insulation. On top of that, the ride quality with a set of Avid Ascend GT tires will be sublime. Smaller imperfections on the road are almost completely eaten by the Yokohama, while the larger potholes are tempered with aplomb. This is perhaps the biggest reason why you would opt for a set of these tires – they are outstandingly comfortable over any surface you encounter."

Pros: resists hydroplaning, comfortable ride

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I’ve run Blizzaks in Colorado the past two winters. They’re pretty good but I’m digging the Michelins more and more and will probably replace them next winter

Pros: pretty good

With any car including the Kia Niro EV. It's always the best bet to go with Michelin X-Ice and Bridgestone Blizzack. They're the highest rated and I have driven them on snowy, hilly roads and they seem to have the best grip.

Pros: best grip, highest rated
Vehicle: Kia

YOKOHAMA Tires

Overall the Outback performed better than I expected with 4 occupants and a trailer, however I wouldn’t want to tow any more then 1500 pounds for the distance I traveled. Acceleration was obviously impacted but not as much as I feared, the 2.5i does have enough power for the load I was putting it under. At really high elevations and fairly steep grades I did have to decrease my speed to keep my RPM’s down

Pros: enough power for load
Cons: acceleration was impacted

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I had Blizzak on my 2014 X5 and traded it in with them, on purpose. Noisiest tires ever. Couldn't wait to get rid of them, and the X5, due to a number of cooling system failures.

Cons: noisiest tires ever
Vehicle: BMW X5
