I know TCL hates them, but I think the Uniroyal Tiger Paw is a good tire for the money. It's not high performance, but they are adequate, quiet, and can realistically last the 70k miles for which they are rated.

Pros: adequate, quiet, long lasting
Cons: not high performance
Mileage: 70000 km

Goodyear Tires

Good Year Nordics from Canadian Tire. I loved them, good price, great in slush and deep snow, and Can Tire has a pretty good tire warranty.

Pros: good price, great in snow

I have no experience with Tiger Paw tires but the Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 is one of the best tires I've driven.

Pros: one of the best

I've had Goodyear Assurance before but I had Comfort Tread not the fuel saver ones. I would buy again, they were quiet, good traction, stayed round, held air, etc.

Pros: quiet, good traction

Goodyear Tires

My guess would be that NASCAR tires are on the very hard end of the F1 tyre spectrum with the cornering loads/weight that NASCAR has in comparison.

Pros: hard end of spectrum

Goodyear Tires

Find the Goodyear trailer at the track. After the race sometimes the tire guys will sell you one over the fence. Got one a few years ago for $5 at Milwaukee.

Pros: cheap, good value

Goodyear Tires

If you just want a used racing tire, (maybe Goodyear, maybe not), check out your local short track. The one's I've been to usually have piles of them laying around.

Pros: piles of tires available

Uniroyal Tires

I have these exact tires on my charger except mine are 18in. The tires are coming up on 4 years old with about 30000 miles on them and they are completely fine in everyday driving. If you don't really care about performance then they're fine. They're obviously not a performance tire but for being relatively cheap they are more than adequate in all temperatures and if you drive normally they're fine in the rain. The only time they're kindof sketchy is in snow but as long as you give yourself more time to react and you don't live somewhere super hilly they're fine, especially if your a4 is awd.

Pros: fine in everyday driving
Cons: sketchy in snow
Mileage: 48280 km

When I had my e46 it was wearing a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws. In the course of the next 30k miles (almost exclusively highway miles), they all warped one by one and had to be replaced. I don't remember exactly how old the tires were but the last one was around 4 years old when it went, and each tire still had a decent amount of tread left in every case. I will never buy Uniroyal tires as long as I live.

Pros: decent amount of tread
Cons: warped one by one
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 48280 km

My experience with Goodyear is as an SA with BMW and VW. For a "high-quality" tire, they seemed to wear out fast and give unwanted vibrations sooner.

Cons: wear out fast
