the comfort quiet vibe of the Toyo Proxes but want to try something different in the same price range, the Continental TrueContact Tour is honestly one of the best upgrades you can make for a Golf 4 TDI. It rides smoother than the Toyos, has way better wet grip (big deal for lighter hatchbacks), and the tread life is noticeably longer.

Pros: smoother ride, better wet grip

Continental Viking Contact 8 is leading the reviews this year. Having recently run Blizzaks amd R5's I can say they are my favoueite, just because they aren't a squirrely nightmare when it warms up (Blizzaks) and I can't draw many differences to the R5's, except for the massive difference in cost.

Pros: favorite, not squirrely
Cons: massive difference in cost

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T III EVs. After about 3k mi, I’m observing 1.9 mpk on a G1 Quad in all purpose. Coming from the 21” Pirellis, I’m pretty happy with the road noise and how they’ve handled, especially this winter so far.

Pros: happy with road noise, handling
Cons: observing 1.9 mpk
Mileage: 4828 km

I previously had on the coveted Conti DWS 06+ and they sucked. Here’s what I did not like about them. The continental did not have the extra little bead around the rim to protect it. The front tires always look like they were under inflated, even though they were at the correct pressure and there was always a ring of dirt around the sidewalk where it looked like it was basically running on the side sidewalk half the time through turns with the flexing. The continental tires only lasted about 22,000 miles.

Cons: no rim protection, looked underinflated, poor tread life
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 22000 km
