I live in Worcester and work in Boston, I get no days off (state nursing supervisor)... I’ve been running Sottozero 3’s since I bought the car and they haven’t dusappointed me. I’ve even hit a couple unavoidable bridge expansion joint craters on 9/128/pike and they’ve held up. I guess I’ve been lucky! Worcester is notorious for hills, lots of snow, and poor plowing by the DPW and I feel as confident as I did running Hakkas on my prior TDI Golf.
The PA4's shine on dry cold roads, i had their Pirelli equivalent (Sottozero 3s) and while not amazing in deep snow or standing up to potholes, when its clear cold roads they had grip for days.
I'm running a set of Pirelli ice zero FR. They're a good all around tire for the cost. Dry performance is good and they ride quiet much like the Michelin X-ice.
I did just put these tires on my wife's 2016 jetta sport. They have 3k miles on them already in the past month and they are great. Quiet on the highway (though when you hit expansion joints it's kinda loud) ride good and handling/traction for wet, dry and the little bit of snow we got was pretty impressive too for an all season tire.
Well i went from 18s to 17s last winter... Originally i bought a set of Pirelli Sottozero3 225/40/18 on 18x7.5 wheels (might have been x8 i cant remember). The traction in cold was unreal and amazing, the price was not.
Finally replacing stock ('15 XT) garbage tires and I know nearly anything will be a huge improvement but thanks in advance for any opinions.
I had Pirelli p6000 for my 1st gen Clio 1.8, I loved them, I knew about the fact they last not as long, but I loved having so much grip.
I ran a set of pzero nero and they were ok too, but they lost grip very early in life and got noisy. They say MS rated but they could barely handle any slush at all without squirming.
Similar story: a lovely pothole seemingly gave me a flat (felt really jarring) on one of my Pirelli Sottozero 3s. Was flat within 10 minutes...Turns out the pothole actually cracked the rim (which caused the flat) and then the short time I drove on it mostly flat, had ruined the sidewall on the tire as well.
Mine came with Pirelli Cinturato P7s and I hate them. They spin, hop, don't like to change direction but they do hold air and they are quiet. To their credit, they did not get worse in the cold however they weren't any good in the snow or ice.
