Yokohama ice guard on my WRX. Does well in slush. Real good in deep snow. Wet roads very good. Dry pavement and temps above 45F, not so great.
PS: Dont go for Falken again. I replaced mine with Yokohoma Advans and they are pretty good.
Cheap tires are easily damaged plus they don't hold as much air pressure get the best tire you possibly can the Yokohama is actually a really heavy-duty good tire you need a really good heavy duty tire.
Junkyard tires for a pizza delivery beater, at 10 bucks each you can't beat it
Yokohama's for the car you care about
I live in Michigan and use Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires year around. Been great so far!
From personal experience on small sporty cars:
1. Yokohama Advan
With that said, those Yokes are fantastic. The wet grip on those is unbelievable, especially for a touring tire. The handling was a bit loose, but that is typical of a touring tire that isn’t Michelin.
The yokohamas are probably your best bet, theyre some of the best tires on the market especially given their price. Pirellis are overrated as fuck and are not needed unless youre racing on a track, and they wear out extremely fast. Continentals are definitely the second best choice, especially if youre looking for a summer tire or something very grippy.
I had 205-5015 khumos 712 esctas on 15x7 and they where wonderfull now I have yokohama YK420 195-50-15 they are fair and grip just fine for H rated tires...
A very poor tire, I think if you treat them as summer tires and put on winters or good all season + 3PMSF tires like Michelin Crossclimate 2s, you'll be much happier in the snow.
