Speaking of cheap tires, I recently switched my tired old 41k mile Sumitomo ZIII with these $43 in 225/45 17 Riken raptor ZR and quite surprised how well they are. They grip as good as my ZIII did, way quieter and rain performance was fantastic. I was hesitant at first until I read reviews on tirerack phrasing these are great tires and they are definitely good. I also learned Riken is part of the Michelin tires company so its probably of decent build quality.

Pros: grip as good, way quieter
Mileage: 65982 km

RIKEN Tires

They have an aggressive tread pattern and I have driven them for the last 7 months in a variety of conditions from downpouring rain to hot, humid sun and they have not let me down yet. I push them hard on a cloverleaf on-ramps. They grip well and don't even chirp.

Pros: grip well, very responsive

yes really, quiet, grips just fine for a daily driver golf, and cheap ($224 for the set) I spent more money on my first set of tires, and realized i didn't need them. These fit my need perfectly.

Pros: quiet, grips just fine
Cons: cheap

Have these on the 944 and they are surprisingly good. Not pirelli p7 good, but good and they hold up. Honestly I have no issues with them. (Riken Raptor ZR summers)

Pros: surprisingly good, hold up well

I've been impressed with the Nankang NS-2R in 120tw and in 180tw. Would definitely recommend giving them a go if you burn through tires quickly. 265/35/18 120tw on the TSW worked very well and I ran them on the street between events. Strong sidewalls, even better than the RS3 at the limits, and very durable.

Pros: strong sidewalls, very durable
Cons: burn through tires quickly

I have Nankang Toursport 611's and they work brilliant in the dry and acceptable in the wet And w/ a 500 tread wear rating, they have like a 50,000 mile warranty.

Pros: brilliant in the dry
Cons: acceptable in the wet
Vehicle: Honda Fit

NANKANG Tires

I had both ns2 and 512 on my 17x9 both were 205/45. The nankangs were decent but didn't give me the stretch I wanted like the falkens

Pros: decent tires
Cons: less stretch than Falken

I've run both tires on 18x8.5. The falken 215/40's were smaller than the 205/40 AS-1's..I rubbed hard with the As-1's The AS-1's are a pretty true to size. I know what you are trying to do, and the AS-1's won't help. Edit: this is the best picture I have to show how true the tires are..as you can see it's not a great looking tire for the size.

Pros: true to size
Cons: rubbed hard, not great looking

NANKANG Tires

I had Nankangs once. The only negative reviews I read just pointed out the excessive road noise. They drove me absolutely ****ing insane the entire time I had them on my car.

Cons: excessive road noise

NANKANG Tires

My nankangs stretched pretty well. However, They suck in the rain. Like, scary bad. But you can do crazy burn-outs, because they don't grip for sh!t. You get what you pay for, in this case unfortunately.

Pros: stretched pretty well
Cons: suck in the rain
