Blizzak’s are very common and the general consensus is that they’re great.

An alternative you may wanna look into are the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3’s. They’re a little less common, but rated very highly and perform amazingly for the price (which is very affordable)

Pros: rated very highly
Cons: less common

Used Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9's or 8's. Used Hakkapeliitta R3's if you're living somewhere where studded tires are illegal. Cost will be around $150-350 USD depending on your tire size, and performance will be equally as good as a newer low-end tire or even a mid-range tire if you get one that's only a year old.

Pros: good performance, reasonable cost

MICHELIN Tires

Winter tires? Why not winter homologated (Canada) all season Michelin Crossclimate 2. They are better than the Pirelli PZero my 2022 came with and I don't see a difference on snow compared to my last Vredestein winter tires!

Pros: better than Pirelli PZero
Cons: 80% as good as winters

We put Nokian Hakkaapelitta R5’s on our 2023 Cooper SE (electric). It’s going to be fun to see the difference once the snow flies.

Pros: fun to see difference
Vehicle: MINI

Usually run the hakkapeliitta 9 studded when I used to drive a lot between New England states. Best tires I’ve had for winter. They will feel a bit marshmallowish until it gets really cold 32F and under. Getting closer to 0F they firm up a bit and drivability was amazing. Assuming roughly same for a similar tire

Pros: best tires for winter
Cons: marshmallowish until cold

I had these tires but studded on my RWD Cadillac CTS Coupe in Saskatchewan and absolutely flew through the snow and ice for a few years. They’re awesome.

Pros: flew through snow and ice

MICHELIN Tires

For what it\u2019s worth, I went down two wheel sizes with my 2018 Golf R. 19 to 17 for Michelin snow tires, from 235/35-19 to 225/45-17. Not much weather yet to really test but some handling loss of course.

Cons: some handling loss
