My Bridgestone's lasted about 38k miles. I thought the ride was bad. I put on Michelin Defenders at Sam's Club. I have about 77k on the Routan now; 39k miles on them. They are about half life. The ride is great. Very smooth compared to the Bridgestones.

Pros: ride is great, very smooth
Cons: ride was bad
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 39000 km

I run a set of OZ Ultraleggera's which had Michelin PS2's , I just switched to RE-11's. Both of these tires are great, the RE-11 has a stiffer sidewall which effects a little grip but they hold there own for sure. The PS'2 had a better warning when at its limit and still had a little more.

Pros: great tires, good grip
Cons: tire pressure sensitive

Talk to Tire Rack and/or read all their test reports, and the only tire that is outstanding for your objective, and for DD road use, is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, or the Bridgestone RE-11.

Pros: outstanding for road use

I would recommend Michelin and BFGoodrich. I've had good experiences at Americas Tire Co, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Pros: friendly and knowledgeable staff

I switched out my Hankook V4's to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3...eliminated 75% of my wheelspin off the line (I should note that I have APR Stage I on the vehicle)...essentially has made reconsider getting the dogbone mount upgraded on the EOS. I've had the stock Conti's, Pirelli P4's, and the last set of Hankook's on...A/S3's blow them out of the water for grip.

Pros: eliminated wheelspin, better grip

Michelin x-ice 3. Great tires. My fwd Nissan never got stuck this winter, and trust me, Alberta winters are brutal. (I'm talking like a foot of snow on the road) it was good on ice too, this combined with ABS, made slippery surfaces manageable.

Pros: great tires, good on ice
Vehicle: Nissan

This was my second year on the Gislaved Nord Frost 5. I've had Blizzaks in the past and have used X-Ice, Nokian Hakepellita R, and Toyo (can't remember the model). The Gislaved is by far the best tire. The deep snow grip is by far the best of the bunch, the ice grip is second only to the X-Ice (which had the worst snow traction). Road noise is very low as well.

Pros: deep snow grip, low noise
Cons: ice grip second best

So,I think the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 is the best winter tire for drivers who travel regularly on snow-packed or icy pavement. The Xi3 rides quietly and comfortably, and owners find it extremely durable. In professional tests, it gets top marks for handling.

Pros: rides quietly, comfortable
Cons: none
