Same for tires. Michelins are the premium tires to buy. Bfgoodrich is great not as good but made by Michelin. Uniroyal (which makes tiger paws that some people loathe) is a cheap tire made by Michelin.
I took advantage of the 4th of July sales and ditched the stock Pirellis for Michelin Sport 4S because I’m going for a road trip along Big Sur and through the Redwoods (Hated the Pirellis).
I have Ecopias as OEM rolling @ 99. My winters (GTA) are Michelin X-Ice Xi3 99T @ 215-65-17.
I have a focus St with Michelin pilot super sports. While the compound sucks when it hits freezing temps, I've had no issues getting around, unless it's super icy.
I haven't been able to gloat anywhere, but I just nabbed a pair of PS4Ss for 149/ea. They really are incredible tires
On the two Hondas I leased, all I did other than oil changes was switch out the tires on my Accord coupe V6/6-speed after one got punctured. I wanted to do it anyway; the stock tires sucked, and the one thing the car did great was accelerate, so I put a set of Michelin Super Sports on it. It stopped acting like I was waterboarding it with high-RPM shifts into 2nd after that.
Just had a set of 225/40R18 Pilot Sport 4s tires mounted on my summer wheels -- saved $150. Great service at my local Tire Center. Guys were nice and knew their stuff. They also used a $16,000 Coats APX90E tire changer, which was a nice bonus and didn't leave a scratch anywhere.
I save some cash and can get in sooner with a local Firestone. They do good work and have never let me down.
This is typical of a 4 year old Michelin though..
Honestly, the Michelins are generally more recommended here over the Conti's... and after 35k on my 99, the best thing I ever did was get rid of the frickin Michelins, and replaced 'em with Bridgestone Potenza's... SOOOO much better wet traction
