Tires MICHELIN or Falken

MICHELIN Tires

Michelin defenders. Original equipment on my 2013 Leaf. They have .800" of tread when new. Not like all the other tires that have only .400" of tread new. I have 82K miles on the with 20% of the tread left now. Getting 4.1 miles per KW. You can't beat these tires...

Pros: long tread life
Vehicle: Nissan Leaf
Mileage: 131967 km

I live in NE and got Michelin Alpin 4s and like them quite bit. Its not too crazy here and if we get deep snow I have other options. We have an SUV I can use and since the pandemic I can work from home which is a huge help. I haven't driven in snow in years. If you only have the R as your daily and MUST drive in snow then I agree with the above statement that pure winter tires are a better choice. For me the Alpins ride quite nicely and don't feel squirmy or get hard as a rock when the temp drops.

Pros: ride quite nicely
Cons: winter tires are squirmy

I’ve been really happy with the Pilot Sport AS4. Not difference in ride comfort or sound, and they definitely are going to last longer than the MXM4

Pros: going to last longer
Cons: no difference in sound

MICHELIN Tires

Michelin never lets me down. I have had several sets of Conti DWS's on various cars and they always wear out way earlier than they should (treadwear gone in 15K miles on a 30K mile tire). I have had a few sets of Nokians too. Good tires until they aren't. Two sets had sidewall bubbles early. Others developed vibration issues before tread was gone. No real recent experience w/ Bridgestone except one set on a 911 years ago. Get the Michelins.

Pros: never lets me down

MICHELIN Tires

Bought a set of Bridgestone RE-71Rs. Fifth car (current STI): First set (besides factory tires) was Michelin Pilot Super Sports - not bad, but I missed the outright grip of the Bridgestone's- wore them down to the cords after 25k miles and a couple of track days.

Pros: outright grip
Cons: wore down to cords
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 25000 km
