I've had very good luck when I have michelins on the car. Much better grip/wear/noise than the factory goodyears.

I have been using the same Continental Extreme Contact DW and separate winter tires for a year and a half and they have outstanding grip in wet and dry, are quite and wear is OK too.

Pros: outstanding grip, quite

Same for winter tires, where I've owned Michelin, Pirelli and Continental ExtremeWinterContact, and by far I like the Conti's followed by Michelin and I'll never own another set "ever" of the Pirelli Sottozero.

Pros: like the Conti's

Michelin is better than Pirelli IMHO. I've had Michelin PSS tires on my Audi and they are great performers.

I have ContiExtremeContact summer tires on my TDI (now at 60,000 miles), and expect to get at least 30,000 - 35,000 miles on them.

Tire technology keeps getting better and better, I guess the new Michelin PSS vs the old Pilot Sports is a good example. Better grip + better tire life, who could ask for more?

I run Michelin XLT 'all-seaon mud and snow' tires, which are great in rain and ok in light snow, but frankly in real winter-y conditions are not good enough.

Pros: great in rain
Cons: not good in winter
