What I can tell you is that the AS 3's have eliminated all the road noise, my handling is vastly improved, and they grip like hell - I used to get chirps when I would floor it off the start between DSG shifts. Not anymore!!
Just got the Michelin pilot super sports. They are nice...much better than my crapinentals
I can only speak to my new Michelin Sport AS/3 . I find them to be great and a much better tire than the original Conti's.
Dedicated set of Michelin XIce XI2 in 215/65R16 - AWD Highline Tig. Picked up a set of dealer take-off oem 16x6.5" tig wheels. Toronto winters with many trips to the cottage / snow belt. The offset / narrow width does result in an inboard look, but easily fixed with some spacers.
Summer tires on my Tig are Michelin Pilot Supersports.. and I have to say, best tire I have every used
I took a look at all the options people noted here and ended up with the Michelin Pilot A/S 3. I have to say the new tires are a lot better then the Pirelli's that were OEM on the car, cornering is much sharper and noise is non existent.
Michelin Primacy MXM4 in 235/40/18 is exactly what I would do! I did similar with 17" wheels on my MKVI TDI and then my friend did it with the 18" wheels on his MKVI GTI. As for the Primacy MXM4, I love them. I've had mine for about 55K miles now and will be replacing them with the exact same thing when the time comes pretty soon, before the winter hits in Pennsylvania. But the tires really have lasted well and they are as quiet and comfortable as any tire I have ever had on a car.
My Bridgestone's lasted about 38k miles. I thought the ride was bad. I put on Michelin Defenders at Sam's Club. I have about 77k on the Routan now; 39k miles on them. They are about half life. The ride is great. Very smooth compared to the Bridgestones.
I finally swapped in Pilot Sports. Much better riding car w/o the runflats.
I run a set of OZ Ultraleggera's which had Michelin PS2's , I just switched to RE-11's. Both of these tires are great, the RE-11 has a stiffer sidewall which effects a little grip but they hold there own for sure. The PS'2 had a better warning when at its limit and still had a little more.
