Tires Maxxis or GT Radial

Maxxis Tires

I just ordered a set of Maxxis RC1 because of bad feedback I heard about the Proxes R. I’ve run the RC1 for a while now and they’re a great track day tire. Super consistent through long sessions and over many heat cycles.

Pros: consistent through long sessions

Maxxis Tires

Maxxis are expensive but consistently pretty good. You’ll get the odd tire with a warped casing. But overall pretty much anything they make is solid.

Pros: consistently pretty good
Cons: odd warped casing

Maxxis Tires

Good rubber. The quality and duro of the rubber and the casing is 90% of what makes a tire good. Good round tires that mount easily. Especially tubeless.

Pros: good rubber, mounts easily

Maxxis Tires

The aggressor is faster on hard pack but awful on mud. Dissector makes a better rear tire I think, it’s similar to the dhr but a little faster. Unless they’ve changed the tire, the cornering knobs tend to get shredded quickly.

Pros: faster on hard pack
Cons: awful on mud

Maxxis Tires

I never get punctures with EXO. Problem I have is the sidewall flops when I lean into fast corners with tire pressures under 25psi and that makes the cornering feel unpredictable.

Pros: no punctures
Cons: unpredictable cornering

GT Radial Tires

I know GT radial tires are on the cheaper side. My GF got them last summer, in may. I checked them today and they are down to about 4/32mm. She basically drove 8 months with them, or 25k km, almost exclusively highway. Is that expected? I'm used to tires going for 50k km.

Cons: wears quickly, cheaper side
Mileage: 25000 km
