Tires Kumho or WEST LAKE

Kumho Tires

Made in South Korea, and original equipment on Hyundai's and Kia's. I have been using them for years, excellent choice.

Pros: excellent choice, long-term use

I went with Kuhmo Solus TA31 EV 215/55/17 and am very happy. Stock is 50 tall but due to rougher roads here and oncoming winter, I got a slight taller tire to better absorb road imperfections.

Pros: very happy, better absorb imperfections

WEST LAKE Tires

I’m not convinced that Chinese tires are terrible, it depends on the brand. ZC tires, who make Westlake and Arisun, I think makes a good product, and have arguably the most advanced automated tire manufacturing for any consumer tires. If you handed me that list and said, you need tires today, these are the brands we have in stock, I’d go with Westlake.

Pros: good product, advanced manufacturing

Kumho Tires

I ran V730s for the entire year last year on an STU M340i xDrive. It's a heavy car that can really put heat into the kumhos and the awd helped with v730's abysmal traction. It is as fast as the big 2 in the tight corners however judging by my GPS and accelerometer data.

Pros: fast in tight corners
Cons: abysmal traction
Vehicle: BMW

Kumho Tires

I do rate and recommend the TA51a, which carries a composite score of 62 in their "All Season Tires" testing category, just beating out the Falken Aklimate. The RT45, came in two spots above, at a score of 63 and again with their recommendation.

Pros: good composite score

Kumho Tires

My experience with Kumho was once the top layer of the tire wore off (e.g. after a year), performance of the tire degraded. They must use a cheaper rubber underneath.

Cons: performance degraded after wear
