Tires Hankook or Goodyear

Goodyear Tires

We have/had Duratracs on (4) of our vehicles currently. 99’ F250, 98’ TJ, 04’ LJ & 14’ JK.

I won’t run another tire unless i get a good reason. Started running them after a guy who owns a snow removal business said they worked better than any other tire on his fleet trucks.

Amazing traction. Great in the snow/ice. (West Michigan) Good tread life. Tough tire offroad.

Pros: amazing traction, great snow/ice

Goodyear Tires

I live in snowy Canada and it's my first winter running duratrac 3 peaks. So far the grip seems good. I have more confidence in deeper snow and I've been able to drive right up to my dumpster regularly (which is in a difficult to reach location with a 3ft snow bank and 2ft of snow all around).

Pros: grip seems good
Cons: stopping issues

Goodyear Tires

I ran Nitto SN2 on my old Accord. They don't make them in stock size for my 2018 Sport. I went with Goodyear Winter Command Ultras. They were on sale, available in my size, in stock and had a $100 rebate to boot. So far so good.

Pros: So far so good

I have some Goodyear Ultraterrains on our suburban. God I love those tires! I’ve never had a set of tires do this great in the snow, and wear this long!

Pros: great in snow, long wear

Hankook Tires

Years ago I had an enlightening experience with Hankook Dynapro MTs, when I broke a tire and for a few weeks in winter had a a siped tire on on end of the rear axle and an unsiped tire on the other. The limited slip had to work very hard to keep me on the road in ice conditions in 2WD.

Pros: similar traction
Cons: limited slip had work

Hankook Tires

Hankook iPikes. Bought used missing only 1/32 tread from factory new. $150 for the set from someone that sold the Hyundai they were on to get a Toyota SUV (don’t recall which one). I don’t care for them, being used to a higher tier of winter tire. They slip more on ice and snow grip is decent but I’ve had better in Blizzaks, or the best in Hakkapelitas.

Pros: decent snow grip
Cons: slip more on ice

Goodyear Tires

Kevlar my ass, I've already had a puncture from a weenie nail, they have 0 grip on dry pavement and even less on wet, they are barely passable on dry offroad but absolute garbage in snow or ice. They are really the "worst of both worlds" when it comes to all-terrain tires. I got 6k miles on them before I gave up, just put on BFG trail/terrain tires and they are better in every way.

Pros: better BFG trail/terrain tires
Cons: 0 grip on pavement
Mileage: 9656 km
