The tire I decided to go with is the Goodyear Eagle RS-A2 P245/45R19, as it is almost the exact diameter of my stock P225/65 16" tires, and they were an affordable choice ($185 Canadian).

Pros: affordable choice, exact diameter
Cons: higher pressure required
Vehicle: Volkswagen

GENERAL TIRE Tires

I have been running Generals for a few years now. The Exclaim UHP was replaced with the G-Max AS-03 a few years back. They have served me well. Longevity is not great, but traction per dollar has been good.

Pros: traction per dollar good
Cons: longevity is not great

I looked up a review of the PS3's and found a comparison test between those, the Eagle's, the Continental asymmetrical all season and another tire. I was most interested in the PS3 but after reading the review/tests it seems the Eagle may suit my priorities better- the biggest being fuel consumption. Of the 4 the Eagle picked up an extra mile and change worth of MPG over the PS3. Both did well in the dry and wet handling trials.

Pros: good dry and wet handling
Cons: fuel consumption

I am currently running a set of studdable (but not studded) General Altimax Arctic tires. They are phenomenal in the snow. A tad loud at 80+ on the highway in the dry, but very good overall in the wet/dry.

Pros: phenomenal in the snow, very good overall
Cons: tad loud on highway
Vehicle: Mazda 3

I am now using General Tire Altimax Arctic and they are nearly as good....not as 'fine' of a ride as the nokkians, but nokkian is high quality rubber and the price reflects that.

Pros: very good, decent value
Cons: not as fine of ride
Mileage: 17500 km

my Yaris came with H-rated Goodyear Assurance FuelMax tires. They aren't terribly sporty but the handling is competent, they're very quiet, ride well, do well in the wet and -- despite my best efforts -- seem to be very slow wearing. The car also gets 3-4 more MPG than our '11 Yaris which has an identical powertrain but normal tires (horrible Bridgestone RE92s).

Pros: competent handling, very quiet, ride well, slow wearing, good wet performance, improved fuel economy
Cons: not terribly sporty

Another vote for the Generals. My CRV seems to ride like **** and handle like dog-**** with them on, but I love the abuse.

Pros: handles abuse well
Cons: poor ride, poor handling
Vehicle: Honda

Goodyear Tires

Reviews for that tire at TireRack aren't exactly stellar. Great tire in the rain, in fact VERY high traction in wet conditions. Almost to the point that it's a technological marvel. But...it gives up so much in the dry that it feels like a sloppy truck truck tire with 10psi. It corners terribly in the dry, the steering response is horrible and wanders all over the road.

Pros: high traction in wet conditions
Cons: sloppy, horrible steering response
