I run 595 evo's in the rear on my M3, they were cheap as fuck ($75/tire from amazon) and seem to have the longest tread life of any tire I've ran. Typically I get 5k-7k miles on my rear tires and I've had these for 7k now and there's a lot of life left. They wear super evenly too, grip in the dry is perfect, wet is fine unless you get on it, then of course you spin a little.
I use them on my 240sx, if you are just autocrossing for fun and to gain experience they are great, but not competitive compared to other tires legal in street/stock classes.
I second the Federal 595 RSR.
My current car, a 2010 GTI was on "Goodride SA-07"'s when I bought it, and from what I found they were extremely cheap ($65/tire) and they are extremely nice from the 10k miles I have put on them.
Here are some of the 165/40-16s Federal 595 EVO I just picked up. The wheels are RH Classics 16x7.5 these tires (like most Federals) run a full size wide, so they run like a 175. They also stretch more round, less "quarter pipe" like a Nankang. I'm not a huge fan of the flames, but they ride nice and at least they'll wear off the tread. haha
The federal rsr 595s I'm using on the rse05s hold up much better at the track.
Here is my setup i was running 195/40/16 federal on my 8J's but was rubbing Too.... so i put them on my 9J's and bought NSII 165/40/16 Here is what they look like
Yep, have these on my BiTurbos. Good size for a 14x6. I'll use them again when I find a set of 7 or 7.5\" wheels. Downside is they are just regular all-seasons. Not terribly fun but I'm not driving crazy at this height anyways. It'd be nice if there were some 14\" Summer options in a 195/50 at least.
Mine lasted 2.. but only because they were worn almost to the belt at the end of the second summer. I should have tossed them after the first summer of use...
this. plus they are super scary in the rain
