Tires Falken or Kumho

Kumho Tires

the Kumho TA51 (assuming TA51a as it is the current production) is a well reviewed and tested very low rolling resistance tire, thanks to a silica-enhanced tread compound. Most reviewers and owners over time generally note a small INCREASE in fuel economy of 1-3 MPG.

Pros: low rolling resistance

I had two sets of the Kumho Crugen HT51 SL. I liked both times and they lasted about 40,000 miles each. Seemed low but they're snow rated so I know those don't get as many miles because the rubber is softer. They handled great in snow/sleet/ice and enabled my front wheel drive van to go through lots of winter weather driving.

This last set (third owned) pissed me off though and barely made it 18,000 miles even with proper inflation and alignment.

Pros: handled great in snow
Cons: low mileage, rubber softer
Mileage: 64373 km

ran them thru a canadian winter and the are very grippy tires on hard packed snow and ice. the tread pattern is insane.

Pros: very grippy on snow
Cons: hot summer durability unknown

I'd maybe recommend the newer [Falken RT660+ in 225/45ZR15](https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Falken&tireModel=Azenis+RT660%2B&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=245WR5RT660P&tab=Sizes) since they're a little wider and a grippier compound.

Pros: grippier compound

Mine are finished and I've driven them exactly 30k miles.. I've regularly had them rotated, and I kept them inflated as required. Their warranty is pure BS (as any sign of uneven ware voids it). They're decent tires, you just need to know what you're getting before you pull the trigger.

Pros: decent tires
Cons: warranty is pure BS
Mileage: 48280 km

I have the TRD Rav with the 18” Falken Wildpeak A/T 01A tires (stock). I have 25k miles - almost all highway - and the tires only have 3/32” tread left.

Cons: tires only have 3/32”
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 40000 km
