Tires Falken or DUNLOP

Falken Tires

the Defender 110 the two highway quiet A/Ts people seem to love are the Michelin Defender LTX M/S and Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. the Falkens look a bit more aggressive but are still way less noisy than KO2s.

Pros: look more aggressive
Cons: less noisy than KO2s

Going from the stock 235/45 tires to taller sidewall 225/55 took some harshness out of the ride, which I really enjoy. The tires, being all terrains, have been a huge upgrade in winter and on rough, unpaved roads. Highly recommend if you're into that. I went with Falken Wildpeak AT Trails.

Pros: less harsh ride, huge upgrade in winter
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 24000 km

Happy with Falken WP4ATW, mostly road and 10% unservice trails (mtb shuttles). Low noise compared to other AT tires.

Pros: low noise

Plus I went thru the falken tires in 10k miles. Didn’t like that they wouldn’t back up the products they installed. Good suv when running right. But didn’t trust it.

Pros: good suv when running
Cons: tires wore quickly
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 10000 km

Those Falkens are dearly loved by this community. I had a set and just didn\u2019t like them. They were noisy. They had a tendency to flat spot if the truck sat for a day or two, that would take several miles to warm up and sort itself out. They were really awesome in the snow and what little off roading I did.

Pros: awesome in the snow
Cons: noisy, flat spot tendency

I’m a little disappointed in the Mav (FWD hybrid) snow performance. Even got real nice Falken Wildpeak AT3 all-terrains in August since the factory continentals were dogshit. It gets by alright enough but still slips on acceleration. A lot.

Cons: slips on acceleration

The tires are uncomfortable rocks at any temperature under about 55 degrees, and will actually fail at temperatures around 40 degrees. They are just-barely-road-safe competition tires essentially designed for use in warm ambient temperatures only.

Cons: uncomfortable rocks, will fail
Vehicle: Subaru
