They have an aggressive tread pattern and I have driven them for the last 7 months in a variety of conditions from downpouring rain to hot, humid sun and they have not let me down yet. I push them hard on a cloverleaf on-ramps. They grip well and don't even chirp.
With winter weather has been here for a week now, and they have been great, millions of times better than the junk X-Ice I had on the Passat, and comparable to any other good winter tire I've used in the past.
Cooper discoverer st max, I drive lots of gravel roads and get lots of mileage out of them, I like bfg at’s but the gravel chews them up
Depends on which brand you're interested in. In the past I've bought BFGs and Ingold's in Durham was my jam, but this time I'm going with Coopers and Discount Tire seems to have the best price.
Have these on the 944 and they are surprisingly good. Not pirelli p7 good, but good and they hold up. Honestly I have no issues with them. (Riken Raptor ZR summers)
I just replaced my worn out Michelin's with a brand new set of Cooper RS3-G1 tires (235-45-17) and the traction from a standing start is impressive.
Tire fit no rubbing at full lock so I ordered three more. The increased diameter is noticeable under acceleration, but I can live with it.
Other than the heavy feeling at low speed (and a little bit of throttle fixes that), I think that most of the difference that I've experienced so far can be pinned on tires rather than the rack itself - feedback of the 14" Cooper H rated tires are slow and sloppy when compared to the BFG summer tires on our other car. I do like the faster ratio of the manual rack though, and I can feel the tug of the tires in rutted suburban streets, so feedback is good, if a little muted through the tires.
ive got those same coopers on my geo and they seem to do well. but they are clearly an AT tire.
I was always a Michelin fan until I started dealing with Cooper/Mastercraft tires in 2010 or so. Haven't put anything else on a car. I'm not pleased by the Cooper CTS I put on my moms car but those will be warrantied no problem.
