I went with Continental IceContact XTRM studded Winter Tire
Bit noisy with the studs but they grip so good
I love my continental extreme contact sport 02.
All you need is good studded tires like Nokian and you will be fine.
Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires are great in dry & rain.
I’m at 36k with lots of tread left on the stock Continental tires.
I just bought Nokians for my S80, similar pattern. Certainly a great upgrade regardless!
We also get the Canada only Conti XTRM here which we like, especially in slushy conditions and we’ve proven it’s been very durable, especially for stud retention even being abused on gravel.
Go with Nokian Hakkapellittas they dance circles around Pirelli’s.
I just went through this with Kryptotals, and although it was tough, it wasn't THAT difficult to get the tire on and seated.
I had particularly bad luck with Continentals on a couple of cars. Buddy (who had a similar experience) and I came up with a comparison: take one of those nice Staedler erasers and draaaag it on pavement, you won't go 50' before your knuckles get road rash. I'm a big Michelin fan, never had any trouble with those on any of my cars.
