Continental DWS06+ is my choice after a lot of research.

This is on a Performance where I like traction. It is quiet and efficient.

Pros: quiet and efficient

I replaced the original Continental Pro Contact tires with somewhat cheaper and longer tread wear rated (70k mile) Continental Pure Contact.

I put a set of these on mine (19”) about two months ago now. They’re doing well. My efficiency doesn’t seem to have been impacted much, they’re not really any louder than the OEM Continentals. They’re good in the rain, but they do perhaps have slightly less dry grip due to likely being a harder compound. Overall, I’ve been very happy with them.

Pros: good in the rain
Cons: slightly less dry grip

Top of the bracket is the Pilot Sport 4S from Michelin or the Extreme Contact Sport from Continental which are the best performance without getting into track tires plus they have treadwear warrenty, but that comes at a much steeper cost.

Pros: best performance
Cons: steeper cost

I have had great success with the Continental PureContact LS sized 245/45/18. Cheaper than the OEM Michelin and overall better.

Pros: cheaper, overall better

I second the Conti Extremecontacts. I’ve tested many different tires while working as a mechanic, and conti’s have been holding up across different driver types better than anything else in its price range.

Pros: holding up across drivers

I've put DWS06 on my past three vehicles from my daily, to a beater, and now my Z. Best all season performance tire you can get if being able to drive under 40° while having summer performance in the warmer months is what you're looking for. The tread wear is way better than some of the stickier tires out there too and I've found on a stock Z, these tires do hold their own. Can't praise them enough and definitely worth every penny extra.

Pros: best all season performance

Been there, done that: 205/55-16 summer tires (Conti ExtremeContact DW) on steel wheels It was alright, sidewalls were a bit soft. Great for city driving, like Toronto, or better yet, Montreal, roads there are just terrible.

Pros: Great for city driving
Cons: sidewalls were a bit soft

Every set of Contis and Michelins I have ever seen wear for absolute crap, lose all of their grip after a short amount of mileage, poorly riding, compromised in handling, and are LOUD to the point of distraction....Right up until they are a bare, poorly weathered carcass at less than 20k in mileage. They have never seen worth the price that they charge for them.

Cons: poor wear, lose grip, poor ride, compromised handling, loud
Mileage: 20000 km
