The other snow tire I used in my 14 years of driving is a Continental Winter Contact SI which was excellent on highway winter driving but not as good for snowy road driving.
I got a set of Continental Viking Contact 7 tires for my Impreza last winter when the shop didn't have Blizzaks in my size and I couldn't be happier with them.
I’m running continental extreme contact DWS06 ran me about $150 per tire.
On my GTI, I had a set of the Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate. Those were very nice tires. Not too loud, especially for a performance all-season, but very grippy and responsive.
What a difference with the Contes….sooo much quieter. Could be the excitement, but I feel like it’s a bit flatter in the turns.
2013 limited eco AWD on Conti DWS06. I came from an Audi A4 Quattro on Blizzaks in the winter. The Flex ain’t the Audi but it’s pretty good.
Continental dws06 is the way to go. I put them on my
3 and love them.
I put on a set of the Conti's Extreme Contact DWS06 in 225/45-18, and they made a world of difference over the standard Turanzas (I have a base Turbo hatch). Better grip, better steering feel, quieter, and with the slight (I mean slight) increase in sidewall, better ride over bumps and stuff.
They were pretty good but after I replaced them with the Falken wildpeak AT3/W and those were better performing and a far better bang for the buck.
My last two sets of tires were Hankook Ventus V2, which were okay (no idea how they are M+S rated) and a set of Continental ContiProContacts which I bought after several recommendations from friends and I will never buy another Continental tire in my life, they were terrible in almost every single way.
