Tires BFGoodrich or PHANTOM

BFGoodrich Tires

Southern Maine here. The KO3s I’m currently running are terrific in both rain and snow. Every bit as good as the old AT3W in both. Only time I went 4hi last winter was on a particularly twisty/hilly part of my commute (narrow two lane rd) and that had more to do with me being overly cautious, not because it was slipping

Pros: terrific in rain, terrific in snow

My KO2s were 5 or 6 years old with plenty of tread left. I stuck with BFG because I get plenty of miles out of them and I have no complaints from the KO2.

Pros: long lasting, good mileage

BFGoodrich Tires

I switched from the stock Goodyear tires to E-rated BFG KO2 on my 2015 F150. There is a small but noticeable loss of quickness that you get used to. I also lost 2-3 mpg on the highway. I gained much better flat protection.

Pros: better flat protection
Cons: loss of quickness, lost mpg
Vehicle: Ford

The traction is one aspect but proven durability off road is hard to put a value on. K02s have eaten some ugly road.

Pros: proven off-road durability, good traction

PHANTOM Tires

Phantoms are America's/Discount Tire own brand tire. They're a mid range tire that are for SUV's mainly but the smaller trucks like f-150, and the 1500's can run it if they are older from when they had the smaller frames. Better than the cheapest option out there, but don't expect top tier performance like, Michelin, Yokohama, and so on.

I'd recommend them if you do in city driving mainly, but they'll still be fine on highway driving. They're fine in wet weather as well. But again they arent top tier, but a decent budget tire so you don't break the bank.

Pros: decent budget tire
Cons: not top tier

BFGoodrich Tires

My take after several sets of KO2 and the competition. KO2s look good and are very durable for off-road work. Excellent puncture resistance and tough sidewalls. For on-road they start fairly quiet but tend to get noisy after wearing. They flat-out suck in the rain, marginal at best in snow/ice, and tend to push in corners (poor lateral traction).

Pros: durable, excellent puncture resistance, tough sidewalls, good off-road
Cons: noisy after wear, poor in rain, marginal in snow/ice, poor lateral traction

BFGoodrich Tires

BF Goodrich A/T are - IMO - dangerous on wet tarmac. Not bad, dangerous. I have 2 UAZ Hunter cars... On BFG during just 4kkm already had a few very bad slips in curves and a collision, when I could not stop the car in a traffic jam on 2nd gear (ABS grinding like on ice... In may!). Not to mention the previous owner slipped and hit a tree on these. Same cars, same driver. BFG are very bad on wet road and I mean real bad... Dangerous.

Cons: dangerous on wet tarmac, very bad slips, caused collision
Mileage: 4000 km
