Mahle is the OE replacement for the thermostat, the Chrysler logo is on the part but sanded down. Autozone sells them with PT# TI23695 I just replaced mine last weekend.

Pros: OE replacement, Chrysler logo
Part number: TI23695

OEM Honda Thermostat

After getting a P0128 code and replacing the Tstat with an OEM equivalent from a parts house and my code coming back and then actually buying the OEM straight from the dealer fixing my code, I’m hesitant on what I should really put in my car since it seems to be sensitive to parts as well. I remember buying Tstats from AutoZone and never being a problem before.

Pros: Fixed P0128 code
Vehicle: Honda Civic

If you want hotter with a thermostat the exact same shape as the genuine VW version, get the Mahle TX1392D. 92 C opening temperature. Keeps the engine warmer and you get a little better fuel economy.

Pros: keeps engine warmer, better fuel economy
Part number: TX1392D

Thermostat and temp sensor were just replaced with OE Mahle/Behr. P0128 showed up after car didn’t get up to temp. Heat is slightly affected until reaches operating temp.

Cons: car didn’t get up to temp
Vehicle: BMW

I’ve been using Germany-made Mahle thermostat for years. Now it throws a code that the heater doesn’t work (so it won’t open electrically, but mechanically it is working just fine), but no leaks.

Pros: mechanically working, no leaks
Cons: throws heater code
Vehicle: BMW

OEM Honda Thermostat

I have a 2015 sedan and I’ve got 192,000 km and owned it since brand new and I’ve had that happen and changed the thermostat twice, just make sure you get OEM Honda thermostat and coolant as it takes a certain type. Make sure you

Burp the cooling system of all air and make sure you add enough coolant to the radiator and overflow, it’s fairly common for the thermostats to fail

Pros: OEM recommended
Cons: original failed twice, common failure
Mileage: 192000 km

In regards to replacing the thermostat, Id stay away from Mahle/Behr. I just ran through two that stuck open, so far the Borg and Warner from FCP can actually hold temp @ -19C, which the Mahles could not at -10C.

Pros: can actually hold temp
Cons: stuck open, could not
