if its a manual grab the mk4 auto starter Starter Motor Bosch SR0407X fits perfect, starts faster, lighter, and slimmer,
Denso would be the one I would want on a Lexus.
The Denso remanufactured unit is perfectly ok!
Given the price, I bought the reman Denso from Rockauto and replaced it myself.
I would pick a Denso, a Bosch, or maybe an AC Delco.
2008 Honda Civic +$100K miles, original starter died while the car was in my garage. Had it towed to a nearby mechanic who charged $500 total for parts/labor for a new starter (from Bosch). According to Google, this seemed correct.
I’d only use OE Honda or Denso branded. I used a Denso that ordered from Rock Auto.
I replaced my starter 3 times in 9 months on my rsx.
1. Buy new. I got 2 reman densos that failed within 1 month. Cheap WAI off Amazon was cheaper and new, and it's still working after 6 mo.
i also noticed that the starter is the original bosch and the positive power lead going to it has some of the insulation cut off right where the wire bends to screw to the starter.
I've already replaced the starter 2 time in the last 3 years, with a rebuilt Bosch starter. I don't think a rebuilt starter should go bad this fast. I put about 15,000 miles a year on the car. Even a chepo starter from the local parts store should last longer than that. So I'm done with Bosch.
