I just fixed a shift issue in my 2011 by changing the spark plugs. The plugs were so worn they were draining the electrical system. Lights brighter and Stereo is louder in left channel now too.

Pros: lights brighter, stereo louder
Cons: plugs were worn
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 212435 km

OEM FORD Spark plug

I went 134,000 miles on a set of spark plugs on my 11 Ford Fiesta which is, what, a bit around 215,000 km? They were still in decent shape when I pulled them, just a bit out of gap spec, and I was still getting really good fuel mileage.

Pros: good fuel mileage
Cons: bit out of gap
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta
Mileage: 215000 km

My 2000 Ford Ranger with a 4-cylinder and manual is just about the simplest vehicle that could exist. SOHC engine, so not much that can go wrong in it. It's very satisfying to work on because you don't experience the shitty feeling of knowing you spent way longer on something than it should have taken.

Pros: simplest vehicle, satisfying work
Cons: spark plugs annoying to reach
Vehicle: Ford Ranger

Guy was gunna charge me $720 USD for changing my serp belt and another $550 USD for changing just my spark plugs. That's $20 for the serpantine/drive belt, $150 for the belt tensioner and I think another like $120ish for spark plugs (B58 engine). So in total I saved myself roughly $1,000 just doing it myself.

Pros: saved roughly $1,000

If you are willing to put some money into it before resorting to drastic measures, try replacing all 6 of your spark plugs and ignition coils. Might help in your case, or it might not.

Pros: might help
Cons: might not

2005 CVPI...180,000 mi....spark plug blown out of head. The Crown Vic was purchased at auction for $4200 a bunch of years ago with 100,000 miles and was very good to us until about a week ago...original engine, suspension parts, transmission and very few repairs.

Pros: very few repairs
Cons: spark plug blown
Vehicle: Ford Crown Victoria I
Mileage: 289682 km

I own one of these, and I couldn't have a lower opinion of Fords engineering (the 2v spits out spark plugs? lets "fix" it on the 3v and make it so they will never come out).

Cons: poor engineering, spark plugs get stuck
Vehicle: Ford

econolines are ok except for one huge cluster****. On the late 90s through 02 i think they built them with too few threads on the heads for the spark plugs. Consequently spark plugs routinely blow out.

Cons: spark plugs blow out
Vehicle: Ford Econoline
Mileage: 100000 km
