Ok had a chance to get a better feel of the shocks. Took it out in a curvy road nearby. The funny thing is how progressive they feel in how they stiffen up. most of the time they are a light soft shock but as you put more wheel input and the g's come up they firm a lot and support the suspension. It feels like the sway bars got bigger! But when you turn the wheel back to neutral it instantly goes back to comfort mode. Back to soaking up bumps and smoothing out the ride. Magic! Totally love them.
Amazing shocks! Spent the weekend putting them on. Mines a 96. 114k miles the original shocks were not completely dead but almost no rebound. Cant wait to take them on the HWY. Smooth on the street and firm in the twisties!
Koni yellow. They’re adjustable and can be extremely stiff or nice and soft, and you get to decide what they feel like. They can be dialed up for a track day or put back down to soft for bad roads. I absolutely love them.
I almost went with KYB but got Koni Active instead and holy crap am I glad I did. For WI roads I wouldn’t buy anything else ever again.
Little update: since car is ca car with 72k miles and garaged whole it’s life, i think it wasnt too bad. I replaced the boot and re-greased outer. Drives just fine, no noises or anything.
I heard the same about the B8 so I bought the Koni Special active with Eibach pro kit lowering 3cm.
I can say I am absolutely satisfied. The car is a real train at the curves without being stiff.
I would suggest at least better shock absorbers (the emu ones are good but I've heard that the Koni adjustable shocks are a lot better especially for the body roll)
Yeah OME’s for a good softer ride in an XJ but best option, best value and more available is Bilstein 5100s. Lots of great reviews of them
I’ve had the Koni Special Active shocks & struts for 2 months now. They’re OK. They do ride very comfortably, you do feel every bump, they do stiffen, a bit, when the occasion calls for it. Definitely an upgrade over the OEM struts and shocks on my 2015 VW CC R-Line had but I definitely wish they were a bit stiffer overall.
Running Koni FSD shocks and Eibach Pro-Kit, the Car is mostly used as a family car and wife, but wanted to stiffen things up a bit and close the gap in the wheel well area. Been running these for about 10 months and I LOVE the look, but the ride SUCKS!!! Its just way too bouncy for me and The amount of travel before the shock bottoms out seems like it is about 1" (although I know it is more) and then you feel all that force through your body. It also seems very "bouncy", the ride in the passenger seats is even worse.
