Love my Bilstein 5100s with my 4.5 inch lift. They have been on it for 5 years now and still do the job in ten sand dunes. No shock fade. Yes on road they are abrupt compared to your parts store junk like Monroe.
Highly recommend Koni shock absorbers, they are amazing on corrugations, can sit on 100km/h easily.
I use Bilstien on my truck
Bilstein B4 are good. B6 are better.
My main goal adding the Bilsteins was to correct the sloppy ride of the stock rancho shocks.
Hello everyone, I just recently had my stock Rancho shocks replaced with Bilstein 5100s front and rear.
I've been running stock springs with Koni Special Actives and an 034 rear sway bar on the softer setting. The Koni's have been perfect for my goals, but I do wish for slightly stiffer springs.
The Golf R springs with Bilstein B6 dampers did moderately lower the wagon's body roll and, paradoxically, not really negatively affect ride quality from what I can tell.
I replaced everything on my front suspension at 150,000. Went with Bilstein B4s, but I wasn't super happy with them when they were new. They're well-damped, but ride on the stiff side.
I’m actually not a huge fan of the bilstein after having the 5100 on for a couple years now.
