Oil filter OEM Toyota or Mobil

OEM Toyota Oil filter

For all my Toyotas, I just buy the OEM Toyota filters bc they’ve got them at basically any Walmart, don’t even have to go to the dealership for them. I’ve opened those up too and they’re way better quality.

Pros: better quality, easily available
Vehicle: Toyota

I was overjoyed when I saw that a toyota-branded oil filter was a touch over $5 vs $25 for the an oil filter for the 997.

Pros: cheap, readily available
Cons: expensive for 997

I use 5W-30 Mobil 1 synthetic and the 10,000 mile Mobil1 filter from Walmart. I bought my 2009 TSX nearly 4 years ago with 113,000. It now has 178,950. I'm lucky it doesn't burn any oil, I never have to add oil between changes.

Pros: doesn't burn any oil
Vehicle: Acura TSX

Mobil Oil filter

Every third oil change use Mobil one oil filter. Ideally their high mileage one. It’s more restrictive. It can and will catch metal particles

Pros: catches metal particles, more restrictive

I don't believe in trans flushes, nor do the experienced techs I talk to. They just push debris into places it's not supposed to be. Just do a drain and refill (with a new filter, if there's a replaceable filter). I've been doing a drain and refill every 30k on my Tacoma since I bought it with 76k miles - just rolled over 150k. Had my guy drop the pan and clean the screen and magnets on the last one and he said everything looked fantastic inside, no major debris, magnets were fairly clean.

Pros: magnets were fairly clean
Cons: push debris into places
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 150000 km

I'm at 115k on my 18' Pilot exclusively using Mobile1 0W-20 synthetic (green gas milage label), changing myself every 8,500miles. I replace with the M1 advanced 110A oil filter and change the engine air filter + cabin filter as well, since new. Discard oil is dark, with a smell thats mild but says, "it's time".

Cons: Discard oil is dark
Vehicle: Honda Pilot
Mileage: 115000 km
Part number: 110A

Mobil Oil filter

I have switched back and forth between Toyota 0W-16 with a Toyota oil filter and Mobil 1 0W-16 with a Mobil 1 oil filter. I have noticed no difference in performance, fuel mileage or metal wear between the two oils.

Pros: no difference in performance
Cons: less molybdenum
Mileage: 10000 km

Did an oil change on my dad's Yaris last year on the 1NZ-FE motor. Everything went well until I got to the oil filter. My dumbass confused clockwise and counterclockwise. So instead of losing it I was basically over tightening it to the point it got stuck.

Pros: dad was chill
Cons: filter glued tight
Vehicle: Toyota Yaris
