I use WIX filters a lot - excellent reputation.
Wix are a pretty high quality replacement per my experience. Wix are certainly good enough to validate that behavior is not unique to the STP filter.
I've been using the WIX so far from local auto store.
I'm running a Wix XP, probably the best money could by.
Walmart should have the best prices of anybody in just about any area. Mobil1 0w-40, Castrol European Formula 0w-40, Shell Rotella T6 5w-40, or even Mobil1 10w-40 High Mileage. Use dealer filters, Mahle or Mann found at Advance or NAPA, Wix or NAPA GOLD also at NAPA.
Wix and NapaGold (by Wix) filters of the champions. No filter or pressure issues for me since 1970.
My lovely girl friend has a 2 door BMW 1997 325i. It's a very pretty car with 176k miles on it. We drove it all over and one day it hit me, when was the last time the oil was changed? She thought her parents maintained it, but after some digging the oil hadn't been changed in 1 1/2 years and possibly 30k miles. I pulled the filter out and it was worse than this, and just fyi BMW filters like these do it kinda often from what I have read.
Then engine had 2.5 out of the 7 quarts it is supposed to have. (poured the oil in a 4 quart jug to see). I have absolutely no idea how it lasted so long. It was a ticking time bomb. So after 6 quarts of oil and the seventh being sludge cleaner, the engine has no more ticks and runs very well.
Napa Gold is the same as WIX. Extremely high quality filters.
Wix. In 2003 Corolla and 2006 Rav4 + cheapest synthetic oil on sale every 5000km. Engine runs smoother. So smooth it feels like I can coast and maintain speed a lot of times. Which doesn't happen in my Subaru Outback with OEM filter and Mobil1 synthetic.
I use Valvoline NextGen high mileage synthetic blend 5w30 in my 1998 Tahoe w/ 161k miles. I usually use ACDelco or Wix filters. Depending on how much highway/city driving I do I change between 3k-6k (manual says 3k for city, 7k for highway) and five quarts go in, five quarts always come out :D. I used Valvoline full synthetic high mileage for about three changes in a row, but decided it probably wasn't worth the cost on such a high mileage, non performance engine. Plus, I wanted to use the NextGen when it came out. So far, I'm impressed with the recycled oil.
