Oil filter Motorcraft or OEM Mazda

Motorcraft Oil filter

I use Motorcraft Full Synthetic (or Castrol Edge Full Synthetic). The oil filter is Motorcraft OEM. Everything gets changed every 5,000 miles.

Pros: top marks, great test
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta
Mileage: 8046 km

Motorcraft Oil filter

Rating 4.0

Motorcraft filters use a silicone anti drain back valve ADBV. Cheapos use rubber ones that get hard in the cold and don’t seal. If they don’t seal oil leaks out of the hydraulic chain tensioners and they aren’t pressurized when the engine starts, so the chain isn’t tensioned and it rattles for a second against the plastic guide before oil pressure comes back.

Pros: silicone anti drain back
Cons: rubber ones don't seal

OEM Mazda Oil filter

In my Turbo, I use what many consider the best oil for gdi engines, pennzoil ultra platinum 5w/30 with the oem mazda filter. Although some aftermarket filters have better filter media, none meet the 22 psi bypass valve specs on the turbo engine.

Pros: best oil for gdi engines
Cons: tiny filter
Vehicle: Mazda

Motorcraft Oil filter

I use Mobile 1, 5/30 in my F150 EcoBoost...287K on it. Change every 6K . And I am an absolute believer in OEM filters. My new Bronco gets the same treatment. Don't skimp on the filter.

Pros: believer in OEM filters
Cons: Don't skimp on filter
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 287000 km

Motorcraft Oil filter

While Ford said you can use 5-20 I know where I live it gets warmer than 86 degrees so in my F150 I run 5-30 or 10/40.

I’ve had no issues with synth and have 255k on it.

Also…I would recommend a Motorcraft filter.

Pros: no issues with synth
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 255000 km

5000 miles, full synthetic, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Do it myself to make sure it's done right. Use the Motorcraft OEM filter.

Pros: done right

Mileage: 8047 km

OEM Mazda Oil filter

I went through the same thing, I believe the part number that they gave you is the made in Mexico Mazda value oil filter. It worked on my 2.5 NA. Though in my opinion, the quality of the filter is subpar compared to the OEM made in Thailand filters.

Pros: worked on engine
Cons: subpar quality
Vehicle: Mazda 3
