I've always used Mann or Hengst oil filters.
I always do Mann filters when available like temporary-republic-6 said it is the OE filter. Also some independent companies have cut and tested different filters and found Mann has the largest filtering surface. I been using mann for roughly 20 years now.
I do every 3-5k miles, with Mann oil filter, both o rings, drain plug and washer, 7 quarts of 5w-40 liqui moly Leichtlauf High Tech oil.
I have used Mann Filters and Valvoline European 5w40 since new. I have gotten the OCI dialed in at 6500 miles.
I found a shelf full of Made in Germany Mann oil filters for my BMWs that is OE for the N55, N54, N52, N20 engine that were 80% off and ran up as $2.78 each. I cleared cleared the shelf full of those filters.. And i also found a new starter for my NA miata $11 that I was planning to replace . It was 95% off.
I replaced the Mann filter on my Golf 6. It was easy to install and the quality is excellent.
I use Motorcaft synthetic oil and filter. It's what the manufacturer recommends. There are probably 50 other oils out there that are just fine for regular driving and the occasional burnout. I just tend to stick with what the people who designed the engine would recommend over what someone on the internet does, unless there is a clear reason not to. And if you disagree, you do you.
Use Mann. They are cheap too. OE.
I just did a oil change and with EFL 5W40 and use the BIG Mann filter like usuall and realise that the oil as already become a bit blackish...
Absolutely not normal for 3k miles looks to be oem/ Mann filter but makes no sense to be collapsed already, did you do the oil change yourself or bring it somewhere to get done 3k ago? Also do not use that k&n keep it Mann
