I had an e90 with the n52 engine. When i first got the car i installed a Mahle filter that fit. After a bit of driving the engine started making weird noises, similar to vacum leaks. And I did som research. Apperantly my experiance was common with "aftermarket" oil filters. Switched to Mann filter on my next oil change, specificaly the same variant as the right one in your picture. The problem disappeared instantly. Also the Mahle filter had kind of colapsed in on itself.
I have no problem with using a Bosch, MAN, Mahle as long as it’s a good brand.
MAHLE is the OE supplier for the Hyundai/KIA filter you're trying to get.
I pay 220 for M2 Comp. 7 quarts of oil and filter. Yeah it may be a high but I prefer peace of mind from a reputable Indy shop.
A good oil filter (I say BMW as I found they fit the tightest, best seal compared to even the MANN/MAHL filters specific to my N20)
Mahle is the way. Allegedly the OEM maker and after using them for a year they look and feel exactly the same.
No one ever talks about this but the truth is the oil itself will always way outlast the oil filter. What you should be worried about is the paper filter, not the oil! Can your paper oil filter withstand 10k miles in between changes before slowly disintegrating into the oil? If you use a high quality OEM filter then the answer is yes. I use the original Mahle brand filters for my Audi.
Daca imi aduc aminte, doar un filtru de ulei de la Mahle a venit diferit fata de cel pe care il luasem inainte cu un an; Made in China vs Made in Austria.
After an oil change, the car shot most of the oil out from the filter. I installed a brand new Mahle filter, tightening it snug. After a short drive, it again shot all the oil out of the filter, with the gasket forced to the outside.
I work for a dealership and have seen many Chinese filters collapse just like that...I've seen other Chinese filters get so bad that it starved the engine of oil pressure which lead to vanos faults among other things....I'd always go for bmw oil filters, that's not something I'd be willing to "experiment" with
