I use K&N 1008 on my 13, the OEM is slightly higher capacity but I think it affects pressure, and I get a light tick on occasion with OE.
8th and 9th gen Si. I use a KN oil filter. Never had any issues, both cars fully built.
I haven't changed the oil yet on my Civic but I will use a K&N filter when I do. First off it has a K&N intake and I like to use similar/same brands, and also K&N filters come with a nut welded to them which makes them way easier to loosen, no fucking around with a filter wrench needed.
$0 because e-Tron however, on the A5 2.0T; I’m paying $50 for oil (Valvoline full synth) and $16 for the oil filter…but I own all the tools and use my employee discount.
I’ve been using Mobil 1 in everything I have ever had since I first got my drivers license; never had a problem with it yet.
I also religiously use K&N oil filters because they work well, and I like the “wrench off” feature they have.
I get the k&n oil filter since it lasts for 20k miles
When doing oil changes buy a K&n oil filter.
Sometimes I can make 2500 and have actually reached 3k miles without adding oil.
Cheap ones are crazy and every time I use the oil filter I get at Walmart oil changes I’m adding oil at 1500 miles.
I also noticed it seems like it made more noise with a K&N oil filter vs Mobil 1 filter.
i had a k&n on my car, immediately i noticed how much lighter and cheaper feeling it was compared to the previous bosch filter i had, also noticed it had a round gasket opposed to the flat one found on most oil filters, but despite this i ran it anyways, a month goes by and i notice my car is starting to leave puddles of oil everywhere, i put it in the shop and lift it up and sure enough the oil is leaking right from the shitty gasket on the k&n filter, replaced it with a bosch and haven’t had an issue
The K&N for my car was literally half as thick as the oe, and for that reason alone I swapped back. Yes it was the right one. Personally I’d rather just swap the filter than clean and re oil one that is probably doing a worse job
