Fram Oil filter

OEM is best for the 1.8T, larger filter, more ooil, better flow. FRAM is not good for your 1.8T-problems.

Pros: larger filter, better flow
Cons: not good for 1.8T

With synthetic oil do you need a fancy filter? Since I change them very religiously, I wouldn't think it would matter. I use the FRAM filter (standard size).

Pros: standard size

every fram that ive used in the past was ng. most oil filters use a filter made of cellulose. mobil1 oil filters use synthetic fibers. those cellulose filters swell up and limit oil flow.

Cons: cellulose filters swell, limit oil flow

I used 4 or 5 for the first few changes on my honda Civic SI with a turbo, and half caused oil lights and pressure spikes or drops... switched to MOBILE1 or K&N and no problems.

Cons: caused oil lights, pressure spikes or drops
Vehicle: Honda Civic

I went to Pep Boys Auto Toys and bought a Fram PH2870A. The day after my girl called me and said that her oil light kept going off, the pressure differential across the Fram was so big that it tripped the oil pressure switches. I replaced it with a MANN and tested the pressure and it was right where it was supposed to be.

Cons: oil light kept going off, high pressure differential
Part number: PH2870A

I used royal purple 5w-30, and a ****ty fram oil filter since I couldnt get a hold of any others. Anyway, Ive been driving my car everyday and its been running pretty much like it did before the oil change. All of the sudden yesterday when I started it, it sounded a little odd to me. I let it warm up and went on my way. Well as soon as I got on the road i noticed it, the turbo wasnt spooling until about 3200rpm (max boost). It used to hit max at about 2600

Pros: turbo spooling easier before
Cons: turbo lag, odd sound
Vehicle: Volkswagen
