Fram Oil filter

Have used FRAM oil filters for 45 years, GMC trucks, VW, Honda, multiple Nissan trucks and never an issue all engines lasted till crashed or sold.

Pros: never an issue, long engine life

Fram Oil filter

Also, I would just use Fram ultra synthetic for 5k mile oil changes. It has 99% efficiency at 20 micron, so it’s fine, and its 20k mile rating is obviously more than enough for 5k mile oil changes.

Pros: 99% efficiency at 20 micron
Mileage: 5000 km

Fram Oil filter

I’ve been using Fram oil filters since the 90’s. I Used Fram filters on my original owner 2004 Honda Odyssey after warranty period was up for 20 years! That engine had 307,000 miles on it with zero issues when I got rid of it. Trans failed twice before engine did. My 2001 Maxima got 238,000 using Fram filters. That car got sold because of a rear main seal leak and other issues not engine related.  I used them in my 71’ Challenger and 87’ turbo T Buick WE4 (granted they never saw more than 300 miles during an oil change). I’ve never had a problem with them.

Pros: zero issues, 307,000 miles
Mileage: 307000 km

Fram Oil filter

If budget, buy the Fram with the dark end cap. Or one of these Mobil 1 filter Bosch Wix Gold All of these are efficency rated to a good level and will filter particulate to a better level, thus, less wear.

Pros: good efficiency, less wear

Fram Oil filter

My father changed a Fram filter years ago and noticed the filtration media became dislodged and looked like if you crushed a piece of paper in your hand. So the filter wasn't doing anything and luckily it didn't get sucked up in the engine and cause catastrophic damage. I highly advise against buying Fram.

Cons: media dislodged, poor filtration

My brother had a car with an oil pressure gauge. Put a Fram in and he had zero pressure! Put in a different brand and it was fine. If he didn’t have a gauge he would have blown the engine.

Cons: zero oil pressure, engine almost blown
