I've used nothing but Fram on my 16 forester 2.5i. Just hit 102k miles. I change the oil and filter every 3-4k and have never had an issue.

Pros: no issues, long-term reliability
Mileage: 164153 km

Fram Oil filter

The regular cheapo orange Fram filters are downright awful, but their Synthetic line of filters actually rate quite well in testing. I have no problem using the Synthetic Endurance filters in my cars.

Pros: Synthetic Endurance filters good
Cons: regular Fram filters awful

IMO. There are no "good" Fram filters. I grant you Fram is better than a screen door for filtering oil but I'd only put on in the car of someone I hated. Look around YouTube for Fram vs Mann filters. The construction and quality of Fram is a joke in comparison to real filters.

Pros: better than a screen door
Cons: poor construction, low quality

The oil filter *would not* come off and just got crushed when I put a wrench on it. I ended up cutting it apart to use the oil passages to turn it, and when I cut it up I discovered that the oil filter was completely empty besides a small cardboard tube.\n\nThat filter looked like a FRAM, but instead of a filter had been filled with a roll of toilet paper.

Cons: completely empty, filled with toilet paper
