I pulled all the coils out and one of them was rusted to shit. As I mentioned, I didn't want to pay $460 to get them from MINI, so the parts store supplied me with Bosch coils and they worked well. I ripped the car through the business district I work in ala Grand Tour; all the stuttering problems, hiccups are gone and the car feels way more powerful than before.

I have used the blaster w a stock icm (the inductive version) and also with a 6al (cdi version). Both worked well over for 400whp with a stock dizzy.
I have an MSD blaster 2 coil on my 93 fox and it works great. I went with this coil for convenience (bought at a FLAPS when my stock coil died) rather than performance, so unsure if there are any gains to be had (doubtful).
Be sure to use a genuine Bosch from a reputable source, or OE from the dealer. DO NOT use a Chinese one from a big-box auto parts store.
after you check the dwell and all wiring looks good, it may help to switch to a different coil like the MSD Blaster 3.
I've had similar spark plugs fouling up issue with the G60 turbo swap in my caddy. After checking all the stuff you mentioned, I upgraded to an MSD Blaster 2 coil and NGK plugs with a wider gap (0.030). So far so good, running on all four cylinders now.
The Delphi coils are junk. Bosch updated the coils they offered and we've used the updated coil multiple times and never had to warranty a single one out in the 4 years we've been installing them.
Everytime we've used a Delphi in the past the white silicone on the boot degrades and falls apart in 6-12 months and customer cars came back with misfires again.
The old Bosch coils wear out because people don't do spark plugs and replacements on time. The old plugs end up with crazy gaps and it kills the coils. Usually at 100k-120k miles but honestly that's the normal lifespan of a pencil style coil regardless.
If you're plugs are old and you're beginning to experience misfires then save yourself the time do all 6 plugs and coils. Your N52 will thank you.
So I replaced the coils with MSD packs, and tossed in fresh plugs, even though the old ones were less than 10k miles in. This seemed to fix the issue for a while, but it ended up coming back.
9-3’s eat coils; it’s a forever problem on my 9-3 that it seems like every 30k miles I’m spending $200 on new coil packs. It’s essentially routine maintenance. I ordered Bosch OEM coil packs off RockAuto and just now realized they have a warranty. I submitted a warranty claim and they sent me out brand new units. Wish I would have known this because it would have saved me lots of money.
